Never the Last Trail!

« on: December 28, 2018, 11:19:30 PM »

Thank you to Kurt, Cliff and Jason for a fun day of exploration on the Mojave Desert. We left Richie’s Diner around 10:00am and North through Hinkley. We explored and photographed the scenery and petroglyphs in Black Canyon, Inscription Canyon and the old opal mining area in the Black Mountain area. We found three of the four A. Tillman signature sites. These are the oldest known non-native “petroglyphs” dating from 1874.

On the way home we made a detour to visit the Indian land carving / ceremonial site near Barstow.

Despite the brisk weather, we had a great time. Other than two motorcycles, we had all the trails to ourselves.

Never the last trail.

Yeah, it was pretty chilly out there, but it was totally worth numb fingers to check out all of the sights of the day. For cool stuff to see, this was the best run yet. A big thanks for an awesome day on the trail.
